When Cross Rhythms originally reviewed this in CR69 as an independent our reviewer enthused “Green Jade are one of a few groups that are constantly proving to the secular hip-hop fans that British Christian hip-hop is NOT sub-par.” Now ‘Chronicles’ has been polished and improved with some new tracks, the phat new single “Faith” and some propulsive remixes. So now the five home grown South London boys are launched into Britain’s Christian retailers with an album that still retains its street credentials and tongue-in-cheek humour (grab Wei The Gatekeeper’s anarchic singing on “Best Kept Secret” but has been tidied up nicely. The most commercial cut is “Holy Boots” with a strong R&B vibe though the decidedly dated “Backslide” could have done with being dropped. These guys are uncompromised Gospel communicators. Buy this.
