The problem with songs written in response to current events is that they are out and circulating before the artist has had much chance to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. "Prayer For America" is an attractive enough ballad with Helen and Chris duetting nicely. And the fact that it was recorded in response to September 11 with all royalties going to the American Red Cross National Disaster Fund and the British Red Cross Afghan Crisis Appeal makes it hard to critique. But Helen has written better ballads than this one.
