In Christ's Image (ICI) was originally formed four years ago through a Christian union group at the Brit School in Croydon. From the weekly Bible and prayer meetings a musician's collective was formed and this EP features seven tracks recorded at Penge Family Church in 2010. Opening with "It's To You", a stomping up tempo gospel-tinged number with a catchy afro beat for the chorus, this is an assured and confident start. The next few tracks, "Bow Down" and "Your Grace Is Sufficient", take the tempo down a notch but not the emotion or energy. "Your Grace" to me would not sound out of place on any of the recent Jesus Culture releases, cleverly textured and building in intensity. The EP continues in this vein until the last song, "Jesus Reigns", which rounds off the set with drive and energy. As a live recording the praise and passion are well captured, although personally I would have liked to have heard a bit more of the assembled audience as well. Still, this is an impressive debut.
