Here's one of the bands based at Calvary Chapel, Merritt Island, captured in full flow with a live concert at the church. A three-piece line up, each a highly proficient musician on guitar, bass and drums. Lead vocals from Greg Geiger convey plenty of attack and fiery conviction. An enjoyable aspect of the concert is the carefully balanced programme, which includes evergreen blues (evergreen blues?) classics "Jesus Is Coming Soon" and "Don't Let The Devil Ride", some new praise songs and borrowed items "Awesome God" (yes, the Rich Mullins one) and the Maria McKee/Steve Van Zandt gem "I Found Love", both superbly interpreted. An outstanding original song is the lengthy "After God's Own Heart", which emphasises the call to humility and faithfulness. How we need that message. The band's whole attitude of humble servanthood shines through their music, not surprising knowing the emphasis on those commodities in their circle. A thoroughly enjoyable, refreshing album.
