A lovely debut CD of classical style music from the last three centuries, including Charles Wesley and the title piece composed by a member of the quartet. The tone, balance and technique are excellent, and the sensitive rendition makes for relaxing listening. It was interesting reading mini biogs of the Christian composers inside the sleeve. Audio-wise though, I would have preferred a more "live" recording in a larger building. The wide dynamic range means that you'll enjoy this CD better on high quality equipment (not in the car!), or better still, try and hear them in concert.

Product Description
Sanctuary is the debut album from the Iskra String Quartet: A breathtaking and unique collection of classical music with a Christian emphasis. In the hectic pace of 21 century life, Sanctuary creates a holy space of reflection and worship. The listener is invited to journey with composers of the last 400 years. Sanctuary includes the first ever recording of Quartet No. 2 in D Charles Wesley. The album includes sleeve notes written specifically for each piece, expressing its Christian significance. This will include Celtic poems, prayers and original prose.
