South Arkansas-based Jim is a performer of Southern gospel-tinged inspirational ballads and though this kind of seamless, smoothly produced music isn't to everyone's taste, Jim's rich voice handles the songs with loving care. The highlight of the album is the track "You're All I Need", a duet with the hugely underrated Maria Long whose sultry tones bring some edge to the proceedings. Another standout is "Start All Over" which has seen airplay due to links with Dr Woodrow Kroll of the radio programme Back To The Bible, whose poem was the basis of the song lyrics. Production by George Hairr and Alan Farris is smooth if a tad unimaginative. If you enjoy the inspirational balladry of Steve Green you may go for this.
