I had heard ccm radio play the album title "Dark Horse"; it drew me. This ccm vet since his first debut in the fall of 1969 is still going strong. John has arrived with great ccm sound for the 80's era. The lp title begins side 1; just love the song! btw top ccm artists Bryan Duncan & Bob Carlisle provide great bgvs for the song. I love the story of the Dark Horse printed on inside sleeve with the song lyrics; John incorporates the song titles in the story. I love "Beggar"; awesome song! Prior to her first solo the next year, top ccm artist Leslie Phillips is heard on bgvs for song "Losin' is Winnin'; nice accent for the song. I love the simple "Lookin' Straight On"; it takes me back to his 1974 song "All Day Song". This album is top notch ccm; one of John's best!
