Yorkshire-based John Gaughan has been around the music business for some considerable time, having been a member of the top selling Herman's Hermits, so you could be forgiven for having higher than average expectations for a release from such an established musician. Unfortunately, this compilation is a big disappointment. The somewhat amateur packaging could be forgiven were the musical contents something to shout about, but my hopes were dashed from the first notes of "Thank You Very Much", the opening track on this three-CD set, which sounded so dated and a throw-back to the days when Christian music was distinctly uncool back in the '80s. John's voice isn't top notch but the major problem is the poor production which often seems to consist of little more than a drum machine and a middle of the road keyboard. John has considerable songwriting skill and the lyrical content is clearly based on a great deal of John's personal faith experiences but these demo style recordings do nothing to show off the songs in their best light. I hear John is currently working with a seasoned record producer so my advice is to ignore this rather misguided compilation and wait for a new album.

your review reminds me of '...the little foxes that spoil the vine...' -Song of Solomon 2:15 (the HOLY BIBLE)

His life is TRUE...he's living a true life of ministering to the Lord. He is one among the chosen of the Lord...what about you?...

I dont know what kind of a life you lead, ..where you are in your walk with the Lord, ...what you know about Serving the Lord. . . if you did know anything about kingdom principles, you wouldnt be belittling the humble beginnings of this man...

"He who does not gather with me scatters" -JESUS

The Lord IS His recompense..!! He who has the KING has everything...Remember sir, ...God works out everything for good in the end...that's what 'ALL THE YEARS' is about...its full of hope and healing for God-hungry souls. Your criticism is fitting in the music industry sir,...not worthy of anything in the Kingdom of God. I would strongly encourage you to improve your theoretical and practical knowledge of what things are about, before you attempt any stunts at criticism....no, not even knowledge...but WISDOM!!
God help you Mr Martin!! ...and may God and Gaughan forgive you !

"He who touches you touches the apple of my EYE" -The LORD of Hosts...

Prudence sir,...prudence with your words...

GO GAUGHAN GO!! ( the man may not even remember me...but his song are so much a part of the lives of so many in their times of trouble, sickness and desperation...right here where i live!!...in my church..and in so many other churches!!)

I DARE you to leave this comment on this page, right next to the review by Ian MARTIN...let the reader decide for himself!

Dont let my strong words rob you of the truth in them! GOD BLESS YOU!

I come all the way from INDIA,...studying in FRANCE for 4 years,...I had the chance of meeting J.Gaughan in Lyon and in Saint Etienne France and having wonderful conversations with him. I've hardly spent a few hours with him,...but I know the man...I know the most important parts of his life... I know how God touched him, and is using him...I know that he is a good and faithful servant and a son to God.
I've heard him, shaken hands with him, eaten with him, and heard his life story....above all i've seen the hearts that he has healed with nothing but his voice and his guitar...he is a one man army in God's kingdom. I've seen people filled with the anointing of healing, as he sings....people of so many different countries(england, india, france, ivory coast, algeria, ...etc) and different races...arabs, africans, french, english, armenians, turks, and what not...

Forgive me if my comments arent good enough for you sir, ...but I do not consider you worthy to criticise J.Gaughan. . . simply because you know nothing about him or his 'worship' which you have so incorrectly judged as 'bad MUSIC'... try to skip this genre of christian 'MUSIC' as u wud call it, when you do your criticism... as i find it under nourished, for want of knowledge of God...

What he has lost, he has lost for the Lord....

J.Gaughan is not in the musical dimension...he is in the worship dimension...perhaps you dont understand? ..my sympathies are with you sir.
He isnt singing,....He is offering a sacrifice of worship and praise...He is bringing his whole LIFE ..."ALL THE YEARS"...the price he has paid...as an offering before the LORD...J.Gaughan has something to offer the Lord...and you sir?...what do you have...what price did you pay? ... what have you offered to the Lord?..Where have you brought hope ,where there is despair?...where have you wiped tears?...where have you made changes in peoples lives that are eternal?...how many times have you brought good news to the poor and the sick and the dying?..
Today J.Gaughan has JESUS in his life....What do you have Sir? To live is Christ, to die is gain.
Its not about J.Gaughan's voice...it is the anointing of the LORD that is upon him . (no, dont bother looking up 'anointing' in the dictionary). He is anointed to do what He is doing, and it reaches out to hundreds of 'thirsty, hungry, desperate' people of GOD....not comfortable critics sitting in couches...and writing articles and doing NOTHING for GOD!! Skip it ,..

J.Gaughan's works are pearls before the LORD...what they are for you is of least importance...

I would boldly and most truly declare that the above remark of John Gaughan's 'all the years' is most inappropriate, considering what J.Gaughan and his work truly are. Unfortunately, Ian Martin seems to have mistakenly hoped for great music while listening to Gaughan's music. Its not about the music mister Martin, ....J.Gaughan isnt making music,...Its NOT about the music, or the poor packing, or the top notch production that is lacking...its worship. If only you would spend some time in intimate heartfelt worship in the presence of the Lord...and listen to gaughan's 'love is the key'...I am truly sorry that you're far from writing a faithful review, mr Martin. If you criticise J.Gaughan, without listening to his witness, without knowing the hand of God, ...and if you dont know the man, if you dont know his life...you've lost an important element Sir, ...a crucial element called perspective! ... J.Gaughan, for all you know may not care about what you think,...neither do I...nor do many of the readers of your article....what finally matters is what God feels about J.Gaughan's worship.
Those who do nothing should not criticise others who're doing things to bring the love of Jesus into this world. Have you ever worshipped the Lord in Spirit and in Truth Sir?...

Spiritual things are spiritually discerned..
