The seven songs of 'Undone' highlight the various delights of this Memphis- based singer/songwriter's talents. Driven by her acoustic guitar and poetic turn of phrase, there's no doubt where Julia's attention is drawn. These are prayerful songs and whether she is finding a deeper trust in God in the song "Strength" or declaring the faithful character of God on the worshipful closer "Faithful One", this is an uplifting CD. Teaming with producer Kerry Kernan who almost acts as a one man band backing Julia, highlights include "Dance In The Rain" which has a touch of Wilson Phillips about it. The title cut is my favourite with its laid back groove and lyrical invitation to draw close to God no matter how broken you feel. The songs connect to me more strongly lyrically than musically and sometimes I am waiting for Julia to deliver the punch of a killer melodic chorus that haunts my soul. Good start but she has a bit of work to do before the next one.
