How do you like your hymns? Here they get a country pop treatment and after a minute and a half of "All Creatures Of Our God And King" you really want it to stop. Hymns are too repetitive and predictable for a straight run through and here little is made of the music. Many of the tracks cry out for a guitar break or more adventurous instrumental interlude but they are unanswered. "Jesus Lover Of My Soul" finally brings relief with its moody melody and some twangy guitar. Then it's back to the tedium with an appalling rendition of Sinead O'Connor's "Thank You For Hearing Me". Best and most surreal of all is a truly amazing arrangement of "Nothing But The Blood". If Robert Lowry was instead Zimmerman then Julissa would be the Byrds. Continuing the surreal theme, "My Jesus I Love Thee" is delivered as a quasi-Hawaiian waltz. You half expect Elvis to appear in a grass skirt for a duet. Julissa's sometimes nasal, sometimes warbly vocal does little to carry off this somewhat bizarre project.
