Apparently there's a real buzz about this album in mainstream circles though for me it didn't hit home that strong. Kenneth is a jazz pianist in bluesy Ramsey Lewis mould and this set of largely self-composed numbers is pleasant though hardly innovative. It would have been good to hear real horns on the strutting opener "Gettin' Over" and real strings on the dreamy "Serenity" but even if the budget had been there to provide them Kenneth's lazy doodlings would still have reminded me, too often for comfort, of the cocktail jazz muzak one sometimes hears in lifts.
