Kevin Davidson And The Voices have been making waves in the gospel scene in the States since 1998. This best of compilation brings together 14 tracks from all seven albums including the recent 'Overflow'. From the opening brass stabs and piano intro flowing into the beautifully fluid bass and wah guitar line of "Bounce Back" the scene is set for this master class in how a gospel choir should sound. It's not just the sound though, as the songs are full of God's truth and not in a trite way either as Kevin is a brilliant songwriter. The musicianship is excellent throughout and the vocal arrangements and solos are stunning. The music has aged well with tracks like "In His Presence" and "Fight On" from the early "Celebrate" album standing shoulder to shoulder with the "Overflow" medley without any of them feeling out of place. It is also very accessible even for those who are not gospel fans and is an excellent introduction for those who have not been introduced to the joy of gospel choirs before.
