This independent recording from Kevin Hammer is a neo-classical production encompassing both modern and traditional instruments, to create an album with distinct influences from Johann Sebastian Bach. 'A Long Time Coming' consists of songs of praise and repetitious meditations which explore an array of spiritual reflections from sacrifice to reverent worship. Kevin appears to have drawn a lot of influence from Biblical texts, in particular the Psalms. When I was listening to the album I thought the chants were a similar concept to the Taize choruses, however the modern musical edge seemed to detract from the simplicity of the songs. I also felt at times I was straining to hear the voices, which were not as crystal clear as I would have liked. However, it is obvious that he has poured a lot of love and energy into this production.
