Their debut EP was reviewed in issue 68 and now Kookee present us with four more songs and it's clear that the passing of a few months sees the band coming along nicely. One of the things I really like about Kookee is the atmospheric vibe that they manage to achieve on some of their songs and here it's the title cut with Ben Blackaby's plaintive vocals riding the rootsy arrangement of the song that stands out for me. The band seem to have gone for a bigger sound this time around and "Fifty/Fifty" builds up over a strong rock groove but it isn't until they hit "Losing Time" that they really go full throttle and let loose. The closing "Face On TV" sees the band creating some funky rock. Kookee remain a band to watch.
