After a well received second outing in 2010, this young four piece from Long Island, New York were signed to Frontline Records. Continuing to build on 'The Shadow Line', this, their label debut, opens with waves of aggressive riffing and brutal driving rhythms. New vocalist Chris Rock proves he can maintain a sense of urgency and energy with his throaty delivery, but now added to the mix are clean vocals from guitarist Mark Randazzo. This only extends the band's experimental style to a much broader soundscape. An album of contrasts is achieved with lighter instrumental bridges adding texture to the rapid fire pan thumping of the majority of tracks. The first of these breaks appears on "Conversations With Fallen Saints", but indie touches are dropped throughout the recording to add inventive variety. The instrumental "Transcendence" is another quieter passage that builds to the heavy breakdowns of "The Greater Hands Of Lesser Sons". Producer, Josh Barber (Your Memorial, Hands) does well to pull off a crisp, lively sound. LTTE are one of a talented group of new metal acts whose forthright music is matched by an equally uncompromising message that does not hide behind obscure imagery. For those who like their music loud and unrelenting, this is right on the mark.
