Lincoln is quite a dude! He's done the rock thing as a lead guitarist for Journey's Steve Perry. He's done the Christian music thing playing in Michael W Smith's band. And now he's finding his own voice melding together the rock of his roots with the praise that's in his heart. Like Delirious?, Sonic Flood and Darrell Evans (He's a member of Darrell's band!) Lincoln is pioneering a new approach to worship music and this album is a fabulous brooding mix of rock music that's focussed on worshipping! From the intensity of  "Shine" to the explosive exuberance of  "He's All I Need" and the solid funky rock of "Everybody Praise the Lord", at every turn this is a fresh-sounding, passionate recording. Other highlights include the gentler "Hey God" and "Walk On" as well as the insistent groove of the '80s sounding "What Kind Of Man". But then this album seems to encompass so many variants of the rock idiom that it's a complete delight. For me the two best moments are the bluesy "Broken" and the quick slab of power pop that is "Spin" complete with exhausting instructions to leap up and down in the chorus in the praise of God. Looking forward to seeing how that goes down live! The thing that adds the class to this worship album is the  sheer brilliance of Lincoln's guitar playing. So not only is he an excellent writer and singer but topping the lot, this is a man who knows how to use his guitar to the glory of God. Never needlessly flashy, Lincoln punctuates everything with swathes of succulent licks and grooves. This is a part of the new wave of tasty rock praise which deserves to revolutionize the whole scene. A real talent, a classy album. Get aboard!
