Dedicated to the memory of John Wimber, this album contains songs that the Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Manchester use in their meetings. The sleeve notes explain that these songs express a longing for intimacy with God and this theme is maintained throughout. Sensitive acoustic arrangements coupled with main songwriter John de Jong's tender vocals give songs like "You Are There" and the title track a soothing and meditative quality. Highlights include versions of "More Love, More Power" and Wimber's own "Spirit Song" together with David Boyd's tasty acoustic guitar solo in "I Trust In You". "Be Free" - a stunning enactment of Luke 7:36-50 - showcases de Jong's anointing as a songwriter as well as the captivating voice of Sally Thornton. I'm sure the harmonised voices of de Jong and Thornton would have been breathtaking had she been featured more and would probably have given the album some necessary variety. "I Long For You" is an intriguing taster of the kind of songs Manchester Vineyard are coming up with and will hopefully encourage others in seeking intimacy in their relationship with God.

This CD - I long for You - truly blessed me when I first bought it. I allowed someone to borrow it, and ... trust they are still being blessed by it. I have been trying to find the CD in the shops and will continue looking as I know I am meant to have it in my collection. Each song has been a real blessing to me.... some more than others. Specifically.. Lord Send Me.. it has really touched the innermost part of my being and I praise the Lord for all He has done in my life and for the music that He gives us. I will now keep my eyes open for the re-release of this CD. Richest Blessings. Kristy

I would like to order this cd and give it to a friend.
It carried me and helped me in my faith in God during my mourning time, after I lost my husband. Now a close friend of me lost her husband too. I would like to help her in her grief with this songs. Maybe she also will be lifted up by the lyrics and the music.

I hope you can help me to order this cd somewhere.

Thanks for your comment about the I Long For You CD on the Cross Rhythms website. You may be interested to know that I am about to re-release the best tracks from this album and one other, and have also recorded 'Acoustic Communion' which has songs in a similar style.
