This is an uncomplicated and effective debut CD from California-based Michelle that includes songs written by David Ruis, Brent Helming and Tim Hughes. It features Michelle on piano and vocals and, with the exception of some string sounds (presumably generated by keys) on the later tracks, there is no other instrumentation. Thanks to some haunting piano arrangements this album creates a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere that fits well with the overall theme and title of the album. Highlights for me include "Whom Have I But You?" and "Light Of The World" but these are only marginal owing to the consistency of the material on here. There is plenty of space to allow Michelle's excellent voice to weave its magic and I'm really pleased that the decision was made to keep things simple and to not overdo things. This is an excellent CD, even more so when you consider it is an independent release.
