I've long had a soft spot for Miles. An acoustic orientated singer/songwriter full of grit, passion and earthy conviction, and though much of his material won't please those who feel secure only with direct Jesus songs, his artful blend of poignant originals and carefully selected covers is thoroughly engaging. Also, Miles can grip a crowd whether at a pub, a festival or a theatre queue for whom Miles sometimes busks. With a solid band, this engaging recording cut live in his hometown has plenty of rough edges, but still grips the listener and even his version of U2 and REM classics keep you listening. A grassroots talent.
