Back in 1972, this collection of gentle acoustic songs topped with harmony singing seemed like a revolution for the church which was dominated by the sounds of organs and hymns. This ancient vinyl release from a large group (or if you like, small choir) from Waco, Texas was one of many which the ensemble sold after ministering at churches all around the world. The new charismatic movement was seeing the introduction of shorter Scripture-based worship songs which were a precursor to the modern worship scene. As you'd imagine, the Psalms are heavily drawn upon in the creation of the songs. Production wise, the acoustic songs work better than those that employ electric guitar and sound like they were recorded in a different session. The songs that have best travelled the journey of 40 years are the purely acoustic songs like "What Will You Do With Jesus", "As The Hart" and "O Give Thanks". This style of harmony singing may sound terribly old fashioned to modern ears but their influence stateside and in this country for emerging charismatic churches is not to be ignored.
