"Let There Be Light" is the second Christmas album from the Atlanta megachurch, North Point. Like their first outing, there is a mixture of traditional Christmas songs and ones penned by church musicians though this time there are more traditional songs with the aim of making the material more approachable for the un-churched. All the songs have a contemporary feel to them, the first half being up tempo with a driving rock feel, quite reminiscent of Matt Redman or Laura Story - not surprising as the album's producer Nathan Nockels has also produced Matt and Laura. From the Eddie Kirkland penned and performed opener "Hallelujah" through to the stripped down working by Seth Condrey of "O Holy Night" it is clear that worship is at the centre of all these songs and their performances. The latter half of the album has a more laid back, ballad feel with some wonderful performances, particularly Chinia Hawk rendition of Michael W Smith's "All Is Well" and Amber Humpries take on "I'll Be Home For Christmas". An impressive updating of the Christmas album.
