In his sleevenote veteran singer and trumpeter Phil writes, "I know in my heart there is a new sound coming. Perhaps it is already there. For several years I have felt that God's music should be life changing:- not just different. I believe the songs should live... We must strive to make music that is filled with his presence." Certainly this quite beautiful set of mellow jazz-styled devotional songs has ministered deeply to me. You may recall that it is only in recent times that Phil Driscoll's albums have touched excellence - early albums were full of Joe Cocker-style excess and overblown 'inspirational' arrangements, but like the wonderful 'The Picture Changes' (another gem), 'In His Presence' by remaining gently mellow never falters in its ability to minister deep to the heart.
