In the States this trio of classy harmonisers are BIG CCM though this is their debut UK release. The trio consists of Randy Phillips, Shawn Craig and Dan Dean, each taking turns on vocals. The music itself is basically MOR and very well produced by Paul Mills. The potential market for this type of music is large but it does need to be good for it to stand out. Happily, much of the material here is very good and only occasionally does it slide into blandness. Of the 10 songs two particularly moved me. The first is "He'll Do Whatever It Takes", which is a testimony to the grace of God and the lengths to which he goes in order to reach us when we stray. Musically, the song's vocal harmonies see PCD at their very best. The other stand out track is the ballad "When The Walls Come Down", which encourages the listener simply to rest in God's presence and let down those barriers! Of the remaining songs those with a more R&B feel (eg, "Can I Get A Witness") are the most enjoyable and I would have been happy to have heard more in this vein. Apart from the occasional outbreak of tweeness the lyrics are quite good and display a real desire to encourage the listener to move closer to Jesus; this is consistent with each band member's work as staff pastor at their respective churches. Overall then this is a promising first album.
