This York-based worship team cook up a unique sound for their debut album. Rock City is a long standing weekly event and those responsible for worship have adopted the name Pierced Through for this release. Despite the variety of styles adopted, it's the distinctive close harmony vocal work which determines the trademark of the group's sound. Listening, it's clear that this is more than a worship album but rather something packed with prophetic ministry. There's much variety from the bluesy six minute vocal workout of "Life Sentence" and at the oilier extreme. the fairly straight forward praise and worship of "Hallelujah To The Lamb" and the prayerful "Come Into My Life". Combining songs that are worshipful with others that seek lo connect with those who don't yet know Christ, this is powerful stuff. "Who Am I?" contains some excellent jazzy guitar and also juxtaposes some soulful diva vocals with a no compromise rap delivery. Love it! Another standout is the funk workout of "Together" which brilliantly breaks down the line "I hear the sound of the abundance of rain" with rain FX. This is an excellent example of how anointing, creativity and musical gifting can skilfully combine to overcome budget restrictions lo create an album which impacts.
