A year or so back Manja Visser, an occasional Cross Rhythms contributor from Holland, played me the 'Eternal Rave' compilation album and I raved, if not eternally, long enough to risk cardiac arrest as this fat'n'50 journalist attempted to dance along to a happy hardcore track (DBA's remix of "Planet Love"). For it was that particular frantic-paced subgenre of clubland that we've been lacking in Christendom. Now Sweden's Erik and Veronica Hallasen have come along here with two more happy hardcore cuts, "Shine On" and "By U" and the latter has the exhilarating, cathartic rush which makes that particular breathless style one of the most invigorating in contemporary dance. Elsewhere on 'Equality' the duo offer a pop techno sound with one or two ballads as well. Good, though it's the HH heart-pumpers which will get you scratching around trying to find a pen friend in Sweden able to secure you a copy.
