Saving the best till last, California's Platoon 1107 cap their four EP releases of the year with this live recording. Whilst it lacks any subtlety and the sound quality is found wanting at times, it seems to capture the true essence of this hardcore act. Recorded live at Angel City in Bellflower, California, the EP kicks off in a grungy, rough around the edges style with "The Few And The Proud". In many ways this is the most authentic and energetic I have heard this particular group. A string of Platoon classics are all delivered in a typical aggressive style, with plenty of energy. The track listing includes "My Rifle And I" and "Separatist". Obvious influences of The Altar Boys can be heard and the group even manage to include a solid cover of Mike Stand's classic "Final Hour". This collection is an excellent way to sample Platoon's work which steadily grows on you. By the time the final chords of "For God, For Country, For Family" sound out, you find yourself joining in with the chanting audience and the band.
