There are at last a few British bands joining the white metal scene. However, many of them seem to be content playing traditional British metal, which is frankly..er..out-of-date. Ransom are no exception. They are also similar to many other British bands in having a weak vocalist with little character or range in his voice. Despite all this 'Standing On A Rock' is not a bad tape due largely to some surprisingly good guitar riffs and song writing. If the band can improve on their vocals and develop a more original sound they may have the potential to be a successful band in a few years time. This tape therefore has nothing outstanding to offer, but maybe points to better things in the future.
