This recording doesn’t fit easily any broad classification. The lyrical content is strongly focused on Jesus, our relationship with him and with one another. Some tracks have a real “roots” or “African” vibe to them. Other tracks are well crafted ballads and some stand up as good pop tunes. Well played, good production with Ray’s voice expresses the lyrics very well - and with feeling. Ray, a major CCM name in the US, is not usually an artist I would think to go out and buy but I am seriously looking at catching up with his back catalogue (available via his website). This is a good album of thoughtful and well crafted songs that minister to the soul. Standout tracks for me are “Beat Of The Drum”; “Hey, Little Brother”; “Roar” and “All You Did For Me To Be”. This album is one worth checking out if you are new to Ray Boltz and a “must have” if you are a fan already.
