This compilation pulls together some of the best tracks from the Irish journeymen's first three studio albums 'Organic Family Hymnal', 'Homemade Worship By Handmade People' and 'The Art Of Celebration'. There is a risk when releasing a Best Of compilation it ends up sounding disjointed. But, despite the silly title (there are no remixes here), this compilation works reasonably well. There is a common theme throughout of celebration and praise which is expressed in a variety of ways. Drawing on diverse influences from stadium rock, dance pop grooves and (of course) Irish folk they have concocted an excitingly fresh sound. Tracks such as "You Bled" and "Second Chance" feature a conventional worship band setup with guitar, bass, drums and keys giving a more reflective feel. It is when Rend Collective get their folk on, however, that they really set themselves apart. They have discovered the recipe for an upbeat folk stomp that is sure to get you moving and have executed it to great effect with standout tracks such as "My Lighthouse", "You Are My Vision" and "Build Your Kingdom Here". The driving kick drum, jangly guitars and the introduction of more folk instruments such as violin, banjo and accordion help build the sound along with an ensemble of backing vocal harmonies creating a sense of celebration in the sound as well as the lyrics. Clearly if you are already a fan you will be familiar with the tracks on this compilations and the chances are you have at least one of the first three albums already. If however you don't own the albums or are new to Rend Collective this is a good introduction to the band.

All of their biggest songs on one album! A bit like the old mixtapes we used to make back in the day, but with no need for a pencil!
It’s been a long time since fourteen tracks has told such a grand and honest story.
From all the way back in 2010 with their debut release Organic Family Hymnal, to their 2014 hit The Art of Celebration, Rend’s journey has been every bit as interesting and engaging as the great Tony Campolo observed when barely anyone outside their native Bangor, Northern Ireland had heard of them:
“Movements are stimulated and motivated by music, and here’s some music that will motivate Christians to participate in God’s revolution in the world. If you are committed to seeing something of the Kingdom of God made real in our world, this music will go a long way to encourage you.”
These fourteen tracks show just how boldly they have called people to join in the revolution. From Movements to Praise Like Fireworks, Second Chance to My Lighthouse, Rend have made a habit of creating not just a soundtrack for a Christian community, but investing in and nurturing that community itself.
