On Friday 26 April (two days before my birthday), Grammy Award winning Milton Brunson and the Thompson Community Singers celebrated their 48th anniversary, with a sold-out concert in Chicago. To commemorate this occasion the Tommies' most popular songs have been put together in a single package (10 out of 10 for compilation producer Skip Barrett). With over 50 minutes of music, this famed gospel choir will sure get you rocking. It kicks off with a hand clapping, foot stamping "Jesus Rose" (thrown in with a couple of "Alleluias" and "Amens" of course), followed by the heartfelt, familiar black choral tones of "He Cares For You". If you're a Rev Brunson fan you'll be pleased to know tracks such as "Available To You", "I'm Free" and "For The Good Of Them" are included in the 10-track line up. If you're after a congregational black worship feel, minus the ever increasing urban street sounds, then this album is for you.
