This bunch of gentlemen met whilst on the Rise Christian Initiation For Adults in California. These four Catholics comprise a cop, a CEO, a sales manager and a part time photographer. The result of their collaboration, a country rock hybrid not unlike Hootie And The Blowfish or the Crash Test Dummies - except more melodic, seems to work really well despite being strangely reminiscent of the '70s. Rise never seem to break sweat apart from on "I'm Coming Home" where the pace ups a bit, but they get away with it mainly due to solid performances and clever if unspectacular writing which renders this album worth seeking out. Surprisingly good, although next time Rise may have to tighten up some of the timing in places - that's just
splitting hairs though.
