What we have here are big sounding songs - well constructed arrangements that have just the right balance of weight and space. Rita, whose ministry at Spring Harvest has helped her build a UK following, has a maturity of voice that adds to the very heartfelt, worshipful lyrics. Although all the numbers on the album have a contemporary feel they also seem classical tinged, like Eva Cassidy songs. Vocally Rita bears some resemblance to Melissa Etheridge but production wise there are loads of influences: "You Still Have My Heart" has a James Taylor-esque piano and "Holy" has an almost Celtic feel. "Come Lord" has a piano/drums/bass arrangement that could be Grover Washington. If you like grown up songs and arrangements with truly inspired worship lyrics (kinda in the Kevin Prosch line) then this could be for you. And check out Floodgate's website for what looks like a very special Christian label.
