Sacrifice are vocal duo Michael Sheehan and Tom Arseneault who hailed originally from the New England area. The two men have been writing and singing together for 15 years, ministering together, and now get to record their debut album. Ex-Air Force man Sheehan has penned a set of 10 songs here firmly in the American rock genre, from driving rock to big power ballads, delivered with crackling vocal harmonies. There's some very tasty guitar work throughout too courtesy of Tom Hemby. The opening track "Heaven's Best" has become something of a radio hit. Michael and Tom and the tight backing band are all involved in local church ministry. It's uncomplicated musically and lyrically. Strong Biblical anthems and full on worship. As well as Steven Curtis Chapman and Third Day, Sacrifice see their inspirations as '80s classic rock bands. The music sounds very familiar and I would think this would appeal to people who enjoy classic CCM bands like Petra or White Heart. It's not groundbreaking music but it's an impressive set.
