What a feast for fans of Sandi Patty and judging by the gold and platinum sales she has achieved there are plenty of them. Big budget is written all over this double album, giving familiar hymns a lavish orchestral makeover. An ideal backdrop for a talent that always holds centre stage with her handling of "Crown Him With Many Crowns/All Hail The Power Of Jesus Name", "His Eye Is On The Sparrow", "It Is Well With My Soul" and "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God". Sandi offers soft words of encouragement contrasting with crystal-clear declaration of God's power to protect. Some of the hymns could suffer from over recording but Sandi brings a freshness and is not afraid to rework some favourites, a jazzy feel to "Blessed Assurance", a Titanic soundtrack flavour to "Amazing Grace". Surprising for me was the inclusion of Darlene Zschech's "Shout To The Lord" but demonstrates that Sandi would not be over-awed in any popstars' company. Not my usual fare but I cannot fail to be appreciative of the talent that is Sandi Patty.
