With over 30 years of recording and performing under her belt, Sandi Patty has grown to be one of the most recognisable voices on America's CCM scene. She has released an astonishing number of CDs and has become well known for her larger than life vocals over big budget, inspirational productions. The Oklahoma-born songstress has with this latest offering attempted to show perhaps a more mellow approach to worship as the CD sleeve reveals this collection is made up of "Songs of love, comfort, inspiration and encouragement." This multi-award winning lady can without shadow of a doubt sing amazingly well in the theatric way of the MOR diva though for me I'd have preferred the accompaniments stripped back even further. With a voice like this there is no need really for such florid arrangements. It's all a bit too "big" and, despite Sandi's efforts to bring forth a mood of passionate worship, takes quite a bit of effort to listen to. It's far from bad but surely a CD entitled 'Quiet Hearts' should be simpler and . . . er . . . quieter.
