This five track EP from the Prestwick-based singer/songwriter was originally released in 2009. It kicks off in thundering Bruce Springsteen fashion with the driving "New York City Summer's Day" acting as the perfect vehicle to showcase Nicol's gritty vocals and passionate lyrical style with the help of a band made up of bassist Ali Whitty, Tony Soave on drums plus cameos from David and Yvonne Lyon. Proceedings continue in a similar vein with the rallying "Sound The Alarm" and the faith-tinged optimism of "Alive Again" before the quieter, stripped-down "Beautiful Star" and the truly affecting "Trapped In A Modern World" betray the man's poetic side and reach deep into the heart of the listener to make this a memorable outing from Nicol.
