I was worried about that Sammy Horner review of Sing-A-Long Praise 'Jump For Joy' ever since it came in. I normally listen to everything before it goes out to the reviewers but refrain from the children's after some ghastly experiences with the dread Kids Classics albums. Surely, I reasoned, wasn't ol' Horner and his dear wife being a bit OTT? I know Sammy works in kids ministry and sometimes reviews kids albums for Premier. Maybe he'd just had a bad day, and one album too many of cutesy kids singing spiritual songs in unison. But I'm made of sterner stuff, I reasoned. Harry Secombe or thrash metal, I'll listen to it all. Sing-A-Long Praise 'Sing And Celebrate'. No problem. Onto the stereo it goes. First track, "How Good It Is", a wimpy bunch of kids singing over a seriously bad arrangement. OK Horner, I'll agree this series is bad but surely not abysmal? Second track, "Jehovah Jireh", a wimpy bunch of kids singing over a seriously bad arrangement. Third track, "Medley: I Will Celebrate His Name/O Clap Your Hands", a wimpy bunch...aaaaah! Sorry, readers, I don't know what's come over me. Track three is, is...aaaaaah! I can't stand it!! Maxine, take it off, please, please take it off!!
