This is the debut release from Denver-based synth-pop trio Situation (husband and wife Bill and Misty Fort on vocals, with Noah Sogolow on keys and programming) Since the band's formation in 1997 they have played over 500 shows from clubs and churches to festivals and other events, so whilst a new name to these ears they have certainly paid their dues. All of the 10 tracks featured here are self penned and whilst the lyrics have a strongly discernable Christian content, it sounds like too much of an effort has been made to make them rhyme and are often cliched. One example of this is on lead track "I Turned" ("One day I was sitting in a pew/Preacher said Jesus died for you/Be a part of the chosen few/I don't know what else to do"). Another problem is the arrangements on this album are decidedly dated which is a surprise considering production comes from the highly rated Joey Belville (Echoing Green) and Quinton Gibson (Plumb). Whilst there is no doubt that this band have a passion for worshipping God and a desire to see lives impacted with the Gospel it's impossible to commend this set.
