This CD, to paraphrase the Pastor who introduces it, is an undoctored and uncomplicated attempt to demonstrate the worship of the South Tenerife Christian Fellowship, a church based on the Canary Islands and frequented mainly by holiday makers (and, I suspect, ex-pats too). The purpose is to provide a memento for holiday makers to take back home with them as well as raising funds for the church expansion appeal. The CD certainly meets the first and I assume it is meeting the second. The songs seem to be drawn from two '80s hymn books - Mission Praise and Songs And Hymns Of Fellowship. So it is no surprise to see such classics as "Praise Him On The Trumpet", "For I'm Building A People Of Power" and "Be Still". There is the occasional hymn but nothing written recently. This isn't a criticism, just a statement of how it is. The problem for the CD lies in its recording. Just taking a live feed from the mixing desk is not actually the best way of presenting something "as it was." If that were the case, then we wouldn't have to go through the expense and hassle of setting up rather more complicated ways of recording live events. The resulting quality of the recording is poor and not at all up to commercial release standard.
