I've heard most of the music on this one, because it was one of the featured albums on UCB Europe during the summer. Since UCB doesn't play rubbish, getting the heavy playlist treatment is halfway to a good square rating. This is tuneful, easy-on-the ear music from April and Brian Wieneke and Jack Thomas, who harmonise these 10 items in the style of a latter-day Bill Gaither Trio, but with a contemporary edge which steers clear of most of the inspo excesses that blight much of the MOR music from the USA; in fact, a lot of this stuff wouldn't be out of place on Wayne Watson or First Call albums. Fave track at present is "The Walk", which chugs along with funky drum loops laying down a catchy beat, and some "wugga-chicka" guitar from David Cleveland. (He means guitar through a wah way pedal. Editor) The rather cheesy cover photo and name might suggest they're a Southern gospel team but in fact Wright Music have come up with one of the classiest new pop gospel units for years.
