Reviewed by Simon Carpenter To quote from the Taize website, "To open the gates of trust in God, nothing can replace the beauty of human voices united in song." This CD might have been recorded in Sevenoaks, England rather than France, but it certainly captures the unique worship style of the radical ecumenical Christian community near Lyons, based on that philosophy. This is a compilation CD from two previous recordings, and the music group, expanded for the occasions to include young professional singers and musicians, is expertly directed by Margaret Rizza, the group's founder, well known for her composing, singing and retreat-leading skills. The singing, sensitivity to the material and musicianship is outstanding. If you are familiar with Taize you'll want to know that 14 of their classic songs are included here including, "De Noche," "Laudate Dominum," "Stay With Me" and "Laudate Omnes Gentes". If you are not familiar with Taize, buy this and be bowled over and enriched.
