Quality pop-rock from an American serving with Youth With A Mission, Amsterdam. Lots of pounding acoustic rock, fronted by Stan's attractively light, floating vocal skills. The set also features a good helping of fast-paced lead guitar gymnastics from Pat Caploe who handles all instrumental chores on the tape. "Old Man By The Sea" is typically Pettengill, sort of Don Francisco-flavoured with some lovely, tinkling acoustic guitar sounds. Poetic lyrics and compassionate insight blend well, producing smoothness and taste consistently. "He's Gone" is very dramatic, mourning a departed addict friend. "Don't Fade Away" is a touching song of hope that deserves wider exposure. A worthwhile, meaningful tape.
