Porter is the sort of independent talent you just want to do brilliantly. A skilled lyricist and producer, now with four albums under his belt, Massachusetts-based Porter marries a wide range of styles with a clear ministry message. Unique is an over-used word but Porter's style really is distinctive; the artist taking his audience on a journey through urban, traditional gospel, rap, worship ballads and even some spoken word - whether it's Bible verses or a three-part interview in which Stanley talks about his mission and approach to music. What is really striking, though, is Porter's dedication to bringing a Gospel message to those who might not have heard it and providing believers with timely reminders of truth. The melodies and arrangements are simple; and that's something to celebrate in an age of overproduced gospel music.
