A very interesting tape from an indie band, who deserve a wider audience. Unfortunately the best track is the first. "Waterline" is a song that's both lyrically challenging, socially aware and musically forceful. If they had kept up this level I would have been lavish with the star ratings. But, although "Brother To Brother" nearly succeeds with its precise guitar solo, its macho refrain of "Brother to brother, father to son" sounds nothing short of arrogant. Not one for the feminists. "Eyes Of The World" also starts well, but keeps lapsing into nauseating Bucks Fizz keyboards. Finally there's "Young Hearts" and we're back to the arrogance, this time on behalf of the young. Makes you wonder if they've been listening to too much Queen. So on behalf of the older hearts, what about something a little less sure-of-itself next time?
