I'll come out and admit straight off that I'm not much of a fan of Christmas albums as very few of them nowadays have anything fresh to offer other than another demand on the wallet, but the Katinas from Western Samoa are class personified and I'm happy to concede that these superbly arranged and performed jazz-soul readings of seasonal classics such as "O Come All Ye faithful", "Mary, Did You Know", "O Holy Night" and a fantastic soul/funk '80s workout "Christmas Is Here" might just make me reach for the credit card one more time, if anything will. And just when you think it can't get any better, the brothers close it all out with a spine-tingling acappella version of "O Little Town". Definitely recommended.
