The Pilgrim Travelers were never one of my favourite quartets, they seemed a bit derivative and to my ears at least didn't have a lead singer as wonderful as the classic 50s groups. Having said that, this 23-song compi­lation does show this team (not to be con­fused with another 50s group The Pilgrim Jubilees) could come up with some good sounds, particularly on the slower tracks. My fax'n'info mind tells me that Lou Rawls used to sing with the group though I can't hear his distinctive voice here. More for the black gospel oldie specialist than the ordinary music lover methinks.
