His pedigree includes working with Prince, Quincy Jones, Maria McKee and The Bangles and now Californian keyboardist Tom Scott has produced an album which fuses jazz, soul and pop together with West Coast smoothness. His soulful vocals remind me of Elton John in places, especially on the wonderfully poetic "Only You". With a pile of this month's new music to check out, this was the one that leapt out and do you know why? Simply that God speaks through Scott's songs and they touch me. In the absolutely brilliant "Forget Yesterday" God encouraged me that I can escape from the pain of my past. "There Is An Answer" provoked my faith that God has solutions to every difficult thing I currently face. The wonderful bluesy gospel of "Give Love To Get Love" challenged me to love some house guests that were annoying me at the time of writing this! Okay, so I'm being real but isn't this what a Christian album should do? Be a vehicle for God to touch my life. The wonderful thing is that if you give it a listen, I am sure that God will speak to you from some of the other brilliant songs here. A new name who is worth checking out.
