Since their entry into the UK gospel scene a couple of years ago, the guys at Awake have provided quite a few gems for our record collections. With that in mind, I'll excuse this as a temporary slip. Even before you've heard the first track the signs aren't encouraging; on the cover photographs the band all look like they'd rather be somewhere else. Musically, I couldn't hear anything here that could set this album apart from all the other soul/swing/R&B tunes I've heard recently. The only time something caught my attention was halfway through "God Gave Me You", in which a man pleads with his wife not to leave him. A lot more oomph is needed - and guys, smile for the camera next time, please!
