Todd is currently director of worship at Journey Community Church in Tacoma, Washington. Singer/songwriter Todd has been through a few musical styles in his career and 'The Mercy Tree' comprises nine easy going rock songs with an occasional folk feel and three live versions of songs from previous albums. The production and arrangements on offer here are good with "Make Me Your Light" with its syncopated rhythm and soprano sax line being the best of the bunch. The live tracks show a different side to Todd, with the rock coming to the fore with our man showing a lot more energy than on the studio recordings. But even here the feel is definitely '70s rock, with some great bass and keyboard lines. A pleasant enough album that does not have anything that makes it stand out.
