Now here's a real turn up for the old books! A London-based gospel R&B group with enough tasty sounds up their collective sleeves to catch the attention of music major Atlantic Records. Consequence? A superb R&B gospel album (hat has the capacity to go big, big time! The five ladies of True Solace mainly emanate from Ruach Church in London, and have the kind of vocal blend that sends shivers down the spine. 13 songs and one remix, the album was recorded and produced in London by Errol Henry and Howard Francis, but mainly mixed in New York. This is one hot album with a strong urban kick and plenty of pop melodies, tight harmonies and the kind of soulful sheen that'll make you think you died and got to Heaven when you hear it! Lyrically, this is unashamed gospel that ministers so you get the best of both worlds - kickin' music with fresh beats and a message that hits you for six every time! Highlights are numerous so let me quickly tell you about "When You Lead Me" with its characteristic catchy chorus and R&B groove; the ballad "Thank You" (both versions are fab) with its prayerful lyric, and then there's the groovy "He's Around" with guest vocal appearance from rapper Solid Rock. But for me, my favourite has to be the almost electro funk of "It Feels Good" guaranteed to get me shakin' my stuff! The best gospel album to be recorded in the UK this year? It has to be!

This cd has brought up from so many dark places. It has lifted my spirits so many times. I look forward to hearing more.
